Nicole lam

Thirteen years experience in teaching ballet to children through adults with a focus on preschool through elementary aged students. Nineteen years of ballet technique training and performance experience.

Nicole is the founder and director of Prisma Dance LLC, a ballet, jazz, and acrobatic dance school. Choreographer, performer & community outreach coordinator.

Nicole Lam, born and raised in Hawaii, USA, is a ballet instructor, dancer, choreographer, and founder of Prisma Dance. At age seven she attended Hawaii State Ballet where she trained in classical ballet under the instruction of John Landovsky and Gina Surles for thirteen years. Having received a Bachelor of Arts in Dance at the University of Hawaii, with a 4.0 GPA, Nicole has gone on to study modern, hula, sign, jazz, Tahitian, Philippine dance and hip-hop.

Nicole has attended summer intensives with Ballet Magnificat! in Mississippi, and The Pulse Dance Teacher Workshop in New York City. She has taken master classes from Mia Michaels, Shaun Parry (Broadway performer), LINES Ballet, Robert Hoffman, Rachel Berman (Paul Taylor Dance Company member), Jimmy Locust, Kathy Thibodeaux, Sol Nazario, and Jiri Voborsky.

Performing in over one hundred Nutcracker performances with Hawaii State Ballet, Nicole has performed leads roles as the Snow Queen, Candy Cane, Spanish Chocolate, and Waltz of the Flowers. She has performed in classical ballets such as La Bayadere Kingdom of the Shades, Giselle Act II, and Pas De Quatre from Swan Lake. In 2007, Nicole guest performed with The Conservatory of Ballet Aviv’s Nutcracker in Louisiana, performing the lead role of the Dew Drop Fairy. In 2010, she danced with Moments Unforgettable in the opening act for Bruno Mars’ concert at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center. Since 2014, Nicole has traveled multiple times to Kenya and India and has performed and taught for various dance schools, children ministries, churches, and organizations.

In 2006, Nicole started teaching Christ-centered ballet to home school children at various locations across Oahu and by 2010, she had 150 students. From 2010 – 2013, Nicole was the Arts Director for Moments Unforgettable Performing Arts Academy and Agency. She co-directed several premier productions including HiStory: of Christmas (premiering in Waikiki at the Royal Hawaiian Theater and Level 4), History: of Easter (premiering on the beach in front of the Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel), and HIstory: For Hawaii (premiering at the Kroc Center).  In 2014, Nicole formed Prisma Dance into an LLC and within three years it has grown to 350 students with fourteen teachers teaching at various locations across Oahu. In 2016, Prisma Dance premiered Creation, a dance production directed by Nicole Lam.

Nicole has collaborated with various dance schools and ministries to teach dance in India, and in various regions of Kenya. Buoyant Performing Arts, the Dance Ministry, Anno’s Africa, Deepika Home of Hope, Word of Life Kabete, and Samburu Girls Foundation are some of the international organizations that she has collaborated with to bring dance to their communities and students. Nicole’s heart and passion is to see children all around the world be able to experience God’s love through dance.
