Contemporary dance encourages natural, spontaneous movement and personal interpretation. It focuses on self-expression, awareness of space and body movement, contraction; release, use of body weight, efficiency of muscle use, off-center balances and suspension and safe body alignment. Each session begins with a warm-up to awaken the senses and bring awareness to the space and our bodies – and then playfully you will explore dance material that builds to dynamic sequences. Contemporary dance develops confidence and articulacy in your dancing through explorative, responsive and organically devised movement.
